The Sustainable Iowa Land Trust (SILT) is a non-profit organization dedicated to permanently protecting Iowa land for food, farming, and conservation. SILT safeguards the legacy of family farms by ensuring they stay protected from development and remain affordable for future generations. The organization's vision is to keep Iowa farmland dedicated to sustainable table-food farming, providing Iowans with access to both affordable land and healthy, locally grown food.

To date, SILT has successfully preserved over 1,200 acres across 16 working farms, ensuring this land is saved from development as the organization continues to expand its impact statewide. Ongoing public and community support is vital to continuing these conservation efforts and securing Iowa's food systems.
